Ada cerita yang tidak terekspos media massa dalam pertemuan kelompok negara G8 di St. Pettersburg, Rusia tentang isi obrolan antara Presiden George W. Bush dan Perdana Menteri Tony Blair. Secara tidak sengaja, mirkofon yang berada di depan Bush ternyata belum dimatikan, maka terdengarlah 'niat busuk' Bush terkait konflik Israel, ketika ia sedang memperbincangkannya dengan
nsiden ini terjadi saat istirahat makan siang, Senin (17/7). Presiden Bush berkesempatan berbincang dengan Blair hingga sampailah perbincangan mereka pada persoalan konflik Israel Libanon. Bush tidak sadar mirkofon yang ada didepannya masih menyala, hingga suaranya terdengar.
Saat itu Bush mencoba meyakinkan Blair bahwa melibatkan Suriah dalam konflik Israel-Libanon akan mempercepat diakhirnya konflik tersebut. "Lihat, ironinya adalah apa yang perlu mereka lakukan adalah meminta Suriah untuk memaksa Hizbullah agar menghentikan this shit dan semua akan berakhir," demikian bagian kata-kata Bush yang terdengar.
Pertanyaannya, bagaimana Bush akan melibatkan Suriah? Yang pasti dengan mengancam negara itu.
Dari perkataan Bush, seolah-olah Hizbullah-lah yang menyebabkan pertumpahan darah di Timur Tengah, dan bukan Israel. Padahal penyebab mengapa gerakan Hizbullah muncul adalah, karena invasi yang dilakukan Israel ke Libanon pada 1982. Hal ini ditulis oleh Bilal El-Amine, seorang penulis Libanon dalam artikel yang baru-baru ini diterbitkan oleh Left Turn edisi cetak.
Hizbullah menjadi populer dan mendapat banyak dukungan di berbagai elemen di kalangan masyarakat Libanon bahkan di wilayah Timur Tengah. Satu hal yang jarang didapat oleh organisasi Islam yang mengusung gerakan Islam yang keras.
Setelah berhasil memukul mundur invasi Israel ke Libanon selatan pada 1980, popularitas Hizbullah makin menguat saat melakukan perlawanan atas agresi Israel pada April 1996. Saat itu Israel melakukan pembantaian di desa Qana terhadap 108 warga sipil tak berdosa.
Pernyataan Bush pada Blair di St. Petersburg, mengabaikan fakta sejarah tentan asal-usul keberadaan Hizbullah. Selama ini, AS dan Israel menganggap Hizbullah sebagai kelompok teroris. Padahal sejarah membuktikan, Israel-lah yang pertama kali menginvasi Libanon di era 1990-an, dan bukan sebaliknya.
Hizbullah ada karena invasi Israel itu. Sejak itu-lah, Hizbullah menjalin hubungan erat dengan Palestina yang bernasib sama, dijajah Israel. Dan, krisis yang terjadi hari ini muncul ketika Hizbullah berhasil menawan dua serdadu Zionis di wilyah Israel.
Israel boleh saja beralasan mempertahankan diri, tapi bagaimana dengan tindakan Israel sendiri yang telah memenjarakan ribuan pejuang Hamas dan Hizbullah tanpa tuduhan yang jelas dan proses hukum? Jadi, siapa teroris yang sebenarnya?\

GB: It's a process, I agree. I told her your offer too...
TB: Well...it's only if I mean... you know. If she's got a..., or if she needs the ground prepared as it were... Because obviously if she goes out, she's got to succeed as it were, whereas I can go out and just talk
GB: You see, the irony is what they need to do is to get Syria, to get Hezbollah to stop doing this **** and it's over

TB: What does he think? He thinks if Lebanon turns out fine, if we get a solution in Israel and Palestine, Iraq goes in the right way...
